It was a game that lived up to the hype.
Eddie Pineiro's 44-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining in the fourth quarter was the difference in an epic NFC West battle as the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 32-29 on Sunday afternoon at Lumen Field.
San Francisco remained as one of three undefeated teams in the league with the win and control the NFC West. It was the second loss in three games for Seattle after starting the season 2-0.
The 49ers defense got off to a good start with Renardo Green's interception of a Sam Darnold pass intended for superstar wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba at the Seattle 18-yard line.
San Francisco (5-0) capitalized on the turnover. Quarterback Brock Purdy threw up a 50-50 ball up to Mike Evans from the two-yard line and Evans hauled it in for his third touchdown of the season for an early 7-0 lead.
Seattle (3-2) took advantage of Jacob Cowing's fumble on a punt return after they just had gone three-and-out of its second possession. Darnold led his team down the field and completed a third down conversion to Cooper Cupp with a six-yard reception to the right sideline. Running back Emmanuel Wilson punched it in for a two-yard rushing touchdown to even the score.
